The Fastlink plan is to provide a number of detailed courses to help installation engineers, and similar, to learn the skills quickly and away from the installation site. With costs being forever under pressure, it is important that the installation goes 'right first time'.

The standard network installation course is designed to help new comers to the industry, including electricians who are looking to enhance their skill set. It will also appeal to maintenance and facilities engineers, who can carry out smaller installations and repairs, rather than get a tradesman in. Sales people will also benefit as, having an understanding of the installation process, will be able to cost projects better.

Discounts are available for bookings of four or more. These don't have to be taken all at once so, you've no worries about having all your staff out in one hit.

Further courses are planned, the Cat 5e/Cat6 being the first. A course on Fibre technology is also planned as will custom courses i.e. ones tailored exactly to fit your profile. This is likely to appeal more to fire & gas detection, building entry and security companies, CCTV and probably, telephony based companies.

The Fastlink training program is a one day course designed for installation engineeers, or aspiring engineers, to gain a level of understanding required for a structured wiring system. There is a mixture of classroom theory and 'hands on' termination skills, spanning 6.5 hours.

The programme has been designed to take the delegate from where the BT lines enter the building, to how a structured wiring system is installed and how the network supports the interation between computer users.

This includes some basic information about the network itself including the operation of switches and routers. We've also included the firewall and the connection between them all using patch leads.

Fastlink has a demonstration system that can also be loaded with faults so that the delegates can, and will, diagnose and rectify all kinds of failure situations that they are likely to see in the installation site.

                       mind that he/she would already have experience in the mechanical aspects; fixing

                       plastic trunking, dado rail etc.
