 parallel cables have until recently been the standard cable used to provide connectivity
between printers and scanners to computers
normally available as a 25 pin D-type connector (IEEE 1284A) on one end with a 36 way
centronics (IEEE 1284B) on the other (equipment end). There are also MDR36 or 36 way mini-
centronics connectors (IEEE 1284C) available which certain models of HP Laserjet printers and HP
